I think this is a wonderful story that is not only a fun read but teaches all of us something important about how to make time in our bust days to finish the projects we start. It would be nice to have a fairy help us all, but Efrat Haddi seems to be a fairy who creates magic with the fun stories and the great morals added into them. I think this book is a wonderful way for children to learn the love of reading and to also gain some knowledge along the way.Product details

This “Gold Edition of the Time Fairy” contains two wonderful tales The Time Fairy and Alex’s Quest The Lost Kingdom. Efrat Haddi has written many books in which she tells splendid stories using her social and personal skills and Abira Das illustrates her books with happy, colorful, child-friendly drawings. The pair produced books that delight and teach children. This “Gold edition” contains two stories.
The first is about an eight-year-old fairy, Elfie, who just now reached her eighth birthday. She is a warm good hearted young fairy. She wants to help children, the most important role of the fairies. In this adventure she teaches a child how to manage what she needs to do so that more time is left for enjoyable activities. This is an important lesson that children (and many adults) need to learn. By reading this book, they will learn it while enjoying the engaging tale that teaches it.
The second child-friendly story is about a cute happy youngster named Alex and his cute smiling dog Max. It is just the kind of adventure that kids like. Efrat Haddi draws kids into the excitement of her story and Abira Das' happy and colorful drawings dramatize the tale.
Alex's father sells antiques from foreign lands which Alex liked to play with. One item is a shiny sword that Alex’s dad tells him was once used by a prince in a lost kingdom – lost, because no one knows where the kingdom is located. Alex's dad explains that the prince used the sword to scare away a fire breathing dragon to save a beautiful princess. Alex listened and felt that he would like to do what the prince did. Alex saw that his dad also had a torn, old carpet, which his dad told him was a magic carpet, which could not be used anymore because people forgot the magic words to make it work. Alex also found a bag in his dad's store. When he opened the bag, a genie flew out.
Children will be delighted to find out what happened next. Will the genie help Alex? What will Alex do?
Efrat Haddi once again places before the public (especially aimed at children from the ages of 3 to 8) a book that simultaneously entertains and teaches. Haddi works with children in a democratic school where democracy is both a goal and a method of instruction. Her belief is that a democratic education brings democratic values such as justice, respect and trust to education, and includes self-determination within a community of equals. In this book she is joined by illustrator Abira Das once again, a sure sign that the message of the book will appeal to all children visually as well as intellectually.
For those who have not had the pleasure of reading the original THE TIME FAIRY the following, explains the content. Elfie is a young fairy from the family of good-hearted fairies whose drive in life is to help children. When they reach the age of 8 years, each is given a task by leader Suzanne. On Elfie's 8th birthday Suzanne awards her the title of Time Fairy, and while Elfie is at first disappointed in the task, she soon learns the benefits Elfie meets a girl named Kylie who would rather play with her friends than study - playing makes time pass so quickly that she neglects other aspects of her life. With Elfie's instructions, Kylie becomes organized with the chores and homework by prioritizing them and has more time to play!
In this Gold Edition (or second edition) Efrat has expanded the story and the layout making the original story intact with embellishments that simply make the book more ‘finished’ – and even more enjoyable to read and from which to learn – ‘the second time around.’ AND there is a fine bonus story as an encore.
As always with Efrat Haddi's stories the combination of fun and learning results in fine lessons learned for the children who read her books. And in that way they are a boon to parents, too! Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, June 17
